Say this out loud —

I leave the room that shrinks me—even if everyone else stays.
Today, I will not contort myself to fit where I no longer belong.
I won't shrink to stay safe, silent, or acceptable.
My calling deserves space, not smallness.
Even if I have to leave alone, I trust the ground I'm walking toward.

There's a story in the Christian Bible about a man named Jesus, alone in
a garden, wrestling with a decision. It was late. His friends had fallen
asleep. And the weight of what was coming next pressed down on him.

According to the story, he didn't pretend to be fine. He didn't fake
strength. He said what most people are too afraid to admit out loud: *"I
don't want to do this. Is there another way?"*

That moment wasn't weakness. It was clarity. A reckoning with the cost
of staying small versus the risk of stepping into something that would
change everything.

He could have remained a traveling teacher—a healer with a gentle
following, a wise voice on the margins. He could have lived longer,
helped more people, and been praised for his insight and compassion. But
that life, as meaningful as it was, wasn't the full calling. That
room—of familiar rhythms and safe applause—wasn't big enough for the
impact he was meant to have.

So he stood up. He walked away from comfort. He left the garden. He left
the smaller story that would have kept others at ease. He left the room
that shrunk his destiny.

Even when others stayed behind—afraid, asleep, or uncertain—he moved
forward. Not because it was easy. Not because it was guaranteed. But
because it was time.

Whether or not this story is part of your faith tradition, the moment
speaks. It names the tension we all face when we outgrow the spaces that
once affirmed us. And it shows us what override looks like when purpose
asks for more room.

"There is no dignity in playing small.
We are all meant to shine. And when we do, we give others permission to
do the same."
—Adapted from Marianne Williamson, *A Return to Love*

Look at the places where you feel yourself getting smaller.
Name the room—or role—that no longer fits.
Today, make one move that opens more space:
a boundary, a brave exit, a bold "I'm done."
Your future can't grow in a room that demands your shrinking.

Where did I feel the pressure to shrink today?
Did I override it—or give in to it?
What space felt like freedom?
What room felt like a trap?

I leave the room that shrinks me.
Even if I leave alone, I know I won't stay small.
Because I am not here to disappear.
I am here to live free.
