Say this out loud —

I show up for others, not just myself.
Today, I refuse the trap of independence.
I remember: I wasn't made to carry everything alone.
My courage belongs to others too—
to the ones watching,
to the ones beside me,
to the ones still waiting for someone to go first.

You can build a life that looks like success—and still feel empty.
That's what Rudy Rasmus discovered.

He had it all on paper. A thriving real estate business. Financial
freedom. A growing platform. But something deeper was missing. A whisper
called him toward significance.

When he first walked into that struggling church in downtown Houston,
only nine people were inside. But outside? Dozens of unhoused neighbors
were gathered in the heat—hungry, tired, surviving in tents beneath
the freeway that loomed above the parking lot.

Rudy didn't look away. He opened the doors.

What happened next changed everything.
Peanut butter sandwiches became communion.
Trust replaced transaction.
And people came—wealthy and weary, housed and unhoused, side by side.
No velvet rope. No stage show. Just presence.

They called it church. Rudy called it love.
And a phrase emerged that never left:
"I love you, and there's nothing you can do about it."

Rudy didn't just show up once. He stayed. He listened. He built
something that will outlive him. And in doing so, he reminded us that
purpose is never meant to be a solo act.

When we show up for others, we don't lose ourselves.
We become more grounded in who we really are.
Because courage isn't just personal.
It's contagious.

"They shared meals together with joy and sincerity.
They gave to anyone as they had need.
And all who saw it were amazed."
—Adapted from Acts 2:44--47

Identify one place today where someone else's burden is visible to you.
Now ask: *What is mine to carry?*
Even a small gesture counts.
A call. A ride. A pause. A meal.
Don't wait for a program. Let your presence be the response.

Where did I resist the trap of independence today?
Did I show up for someone—not to rescue, but to walk with?
Did I let someone show up for me?

I show up for others, not just myself.
And I do not carry my purpose alone.
We were made for each other.
